Marking its first foray into the SVOD space, Channel 5’s preschool TV block Milkshake! is taking its content to Amazon Channels for UK Prime Video subscribers. Under the name More Milkshake!, the ad-free service costs US$4 (UK£2.99) per month and includes preschool fare like Fireman Sam (pictured), Thomas and Friends and Bob the Builder.
Milkshake!, which airs on Channel 5 daily, achieved its best-ever annual share of all kids viewing in 2017, according to the broadcaster.
The ratings come shortly after the Viacom-owned network revamped Milkshake! for the first time in more than a decade, sporting a new on-air logo and opening title sequences, as well an “All New Week” event schedule and the first-ever Milkshake! YouTube Channel. The block has also been bringing out new original content, including recently commissioned Shane the Chef, produced by London’s Hoho Entertainment and Welsh prodco Cloth Cat Animation.
Amazon Channels launched in the UK last May and has since been adding a raft of children’s channels including Genius Brands’ Kid Genius Cartoons Plus! in September, followed by Kidstream from Bandvida featuring content from Canada’s Breakthrough Entertainment, France’s Millimages and awol animation.
