Nickelodeon and longtime creative partner Dan Schneider are officially going their separate ways. A Nickelodeon spokesperson confirmed to Kidscreen that both the kidsnet and Schneider (and by extension his production company Schneider’s Bakery) have agree to not extend their contract, leaving Schneider to pursue other opportunities and projects.
The amicable split comes as production officially wraps on live-action series Game Shakers, which was created by Schneider along with other Nick hits like iCarly, Drake & Josh, Victorious, Kenan & Kel, and Henry Danger. Game Shakers will continue to premiere globally throughout 2018.
Henry Danger, meanwhile, will continue for a fifth season. Nickelodeon recently bowed The Adventures of Kid Danger, an animated Henry Danger spinoff created and executive produced by Schneider.
Schneider was also the creative force behind The Amanda Show, What I Like About You, Zoey 101 and Sam & Cat.
“We thank Dan and his Schneider’s Bakery producers, executives and social media team for their immeasurable contributions to Nickelodeon, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors,” said the Nickelodeon rep in a joint statement.
Schneider’s departure comes shortly after another well-known Nickelodeon creator, Butch Hartman, parted ways with the kidsnet. Hartman announced on his YouTube channel that after 20 years of creating shows including Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, Tuff Puppy and Bunsen is a Beast, he felt it was time to pursue other ventures.
