Turner Asia Pacific has tapped former Disney exec Vikram Sharma as VP of Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE)—the media conglomerate’s regional L&M division.
Sharma will drive sales for toys, apparel, home entertainment, publishing, lifestyle products, live events and themed entertainment based on Cartoon Network series including Ben 10, We Bare Bears, Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball and The Powerpuff Girls.
Sharma will also be responsible for managing Tuzki, Turner’s digital IP well-known among Chinese kids.
At Disney, Sharma most recently served as director of retail and licensing in Singapore and Malaysia. He was also previously the House of Mouse’s country director for Thailand and director of retail for South East Asia.
Sharma’s appointment comes as live events and themed entertainment continue to grow in popularity. Earlier this year, Turner Asia Pacific partnered with Singapore-based cruise management company Oceanic Group to launch its first-ever branded Cartoon Network cruise ship. The Cartoon Network Wave will set sail from Singapore later this year, decked out with a crop of the broadcaster’s famous cartoon characters.
