DHX Brands—the IP management and consumer products arm of Canada’s DHX Media—has signed its first South Korean broadcasting deal for Teletubbies, with the preschool series set to premiere on public broadcaster KBS in May.
In addition, SMG Holdings/Joon International has been appointed as the brand’s licensing agent in the territory. Consumer products inspired by the series are expected to launch in South Korea later this year.
The agreements were inked as DHX Brands continues to expand Teletubbies’ Asian presence. The series launched on Chinese digital video platforms iQIYI and Youku in 2017, and DHX Brands signed a number of consumer products agreements in China earlier this year.
