Parisian prodco Gaumont has signed a deal with bestselling children’s book author Julian Lennon to produce an animated TV series based on his titles Touch the Earth (pictured) and Heal the Earth.
Executive produced by Lennon and his book collaborator Bart Davis, the preschool adaptation will feature themes of environmentalism and social issues. Gaumont’s president of animation, Nicolas Atlan, and creative development SVP Terry Kalagian will also work on the series.
Lennon is the son of the late Beatles singer John Lennon, and Gaumont is also currently developing an animated feature, High in the Clouds, based on the book co-authored by Beatles alum Paul McCartney. Also currently in development at Gaumont is a TV series inspired by Stan Sakai’s long-running comic series Usagi Yojimbo, with Dark Horse Comics and Atomic Monster on board as co-producers.
