Henson names global consumer products director

As executive director of global consumer products, former DHX Media exec Shane Mang will handle licensing for Henson's new and legacy brands.

The Jim Henson Company has appointed former DHX business development manager Shane Mang as its new executive director of global consumer products, where he will oversee licensing activities for the company’s children’s brands, classic franchises and several yet-to-be announced properties.

Among the Henson properties now under Mang’s watch are Dot., Dinosaur Train, Doozers, Splash and Bubbles, Word Party, Farscape, Fraggle Rock, Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.

Mang previously managed DHX Media’s business development efforts in the Americas for IPs like Teletubbies, Mega Man, Caillou, Slugterra, Massive Monster Mayhem, Inspector Gadget and Degrassi. Prior to DHX, he was manager of licensing and distribution at Canada’s Nerd Corps Entertainment (which was acquired by DHX in 2014).

Henson recently announced TV adaptations of two classic booksHarriet the Spy and The Kissing Handboth of which focus on the need to build strength and resilience among kids. The company is also taking IAmElemental’s line of female superheroes and bringing them to life in a new animated series aimed at kids ages six to 12.
