Studio Hari’s Pipas & Douglas heads to China

The French prodco has sold its new short-form CGI series to China's Alibaba, which will also handle merchandising rights in the region.

Parisian prodco Studio Hari (Grizzy and the Lemmings) has sold its Pipas & Douglas CGI series to Chinese tech giant Alibaba.

Alibaba, which premiered the toon on its Youku digital platform earlier this month, will also handling the property’s merchandising rights in the region.

The 52 x two-minute comedy bowed on France Télévisions’ ludo.fr digital channel in December. (The full series’ linear premiere will take place on France 4 in the coming months.) Hari International globally distributes Pipas & Douglas, which has also sold to Télé-Quebec (Canada) and SVT (Sweden).

Following a perfectionist spider and his caterpillar assistant, the series is created by Alexandre So (The Owl) in association with Sébastien Lasserre.
