Sesame Workshop has joined forces with OTT software company Vewd and video technology provider Kaltura to launch a new Sesame Street streaming app. Featuring 48 seasons of the children’s TV series, as well as dedicated sections for Sesame Street characters, the app can be used through any Vewd-enabled connected TV devices.

Available for free through the Vewd App Store in North America and the Caribbean, it can be found on TVs from Sony, Hisense and Vestel, as well as set-top boxes from TiVo and Blu-ray players from Samsung. Through the tech provided, the OTT capability is available on nearly 50 million connected devices.

Some of the characters with their own sections on the app include Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Bert and Ernie and others.

Sesame has worked with Kaltura in the past on its Sesame GO ad-free paid service that launched back in 2014, where users could stream full-length episodes of the TV series. It was powered by Kaltura MediaGO OTT Solution, making Sesame GO available as a web service through internet browsers as well as on tablets and mobile devices.

Sesame Workshop continues to make new moves for its series ahead of its 50th anniversary next year, including the recent announcement that it had inked an exclusive Canadian broadcast and licensing agreement with Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana to air content on the Treehouse TV preschool network and non-linear platforms.
