Disney EMEA commissions Vikingskool

Produced by Cartoon Saloon, Samka Productions and Storm Films, Disney Channels EMEA will debut the new animated series in late 2019.

Disney EMEA has announced its new production and development slate, commissioning the new series Vikingskool and picking up fourth seasons of both PJ Masks and Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.

Created by Norwegians Frederick P. N. Howard and Gisle Normann Melhus, the 26 x half-hour Vikingskool follows wannabe warriors Erik, Ylva and Arni as they become new students at an elite academy for Vikings. The animated series is a co-production between Ireland’s Cartoon Saloon, France’s Samka Productions and Norway’s Storm Films. It is set to debut on Disney Channel in late 2019.

In terms of returning series, it was also announced at Annecy at the International Animated Film Festival that fourth seasons of eOne and Frog Box’s PJ Masks and Zagtoon’s Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir are currently in development.

In other Disney Channel news 101 Dalmatian Street will premiere across Europe, the Middle East and Africa in late 2018 before rolling out around the world in 2019. The series was announced by Disney EMEA last year at this time along with Cyber Group’s Gigantosaurus and Space Chickens in Space, a global co-pro from CAKE, Anima Estudios, Studio Moshi and Gingerbread Animation.
