Cottonwood Media has formed a creative partnership with industry vet Sarah Haasz (pictured) that will see the former Family Channel exec oversee the Paris-based prodco’s North American slate of live-action and animated series.

The deal will also give the producers of the hit series Find Me in Paris and The Ollie & Moon Show the right of first refusal to new shows created by Haasz.

In her new role, Haasz will work directly with Cottonwood founder and president David Michel. (Cottonwood is the sister prodco of Federation Kids & Family, where Michel is managing director.)

Haasz was most recently a senior network executive at DHX Television’s Family Channel. She previously held executive positions at Canuck kidsnets including Corus’ YTV and Treehouse, CBC Kids, Disney XD Canada and Disney Jr. Canada.

Over a 20-year career, she was instrumental in producing a number of successful series and movies, including The Next Step, Raising Expectations, Backstage, Gaming Show, Playdate and Justin Time. She was also creative producer for The Next Step Live on Stage Tour 2015.

Her appointment follows the second-window acquisition of Cottonwood’s tween drama series Find Me in Paris by NBCUniversal’s US net Universal Kids. The show made its American debut on Hulu this spring.

Also in North America, Cottonwood’s 2D-animated series Ollie & Moon currently airs on Universal Kids’ preschool block Sprout (US), Netflix (US and Canada) and TVO, TFO and Knowledge (Canada).
