Nickelodeon International’s Together for Good initiative has partnered with Nairobi, Kenya-based African Wildlife Foundation to launch Together for Good Wildlife Special, an educational miniseries to raise awareness about endangered wildlife.

In the special, premiering today in more than 170 territories on Nickelodeon’s global network of channels, Breanna Yde (School of Rock) guides viewers through Uganda, while discussing conservation and environmental challenges and the people who dedicate their lives to protecting wildlife at risk. This is the first time Nickelodeon talent was brought to Africa, having filmed the special in Uganda.

It will be supplemented with digital clips focusing on guides, park rangers, detection dogs and their handlers, as well as showing kids how they can help at home.

As part of the initiative, the kidcaster has also added a new Tanzania environment to its educational geography app Dora’s Worldwide Adventure. The new location supplements the current areas of Australia, Brazil, China, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US for the app, which is available in 12 languages on iTunes, Google Play and the Amazon app store.

Viewers are encouraged to participate through the #AWFRoarChallenge on social media, asking kids to share videos of themselves roaring and trying to scare their friends. The campaign also includes animal facts, ways to fundraise and more.

Earlier this year, Nick partnered with NGO KidsRights Foundation to launch #KidsCan as part of its Together for Good initiative. The global campaign was designed to educate young people about making positive changes for the world.
