Nickelodeon is calling for more turtles, greenlighting Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a second season ahead of the US season one premiere on September 17. Production on the next 26 episodes of the animated action/comedy series will begin this fall at Nick’s California headquarters.
The show’s first season will premiere in the US before launching across Nick’s channels and branded blocks in more than 170 territories this fall. The reimagined series follows the Turtles as they master new powers and go on adventures in New York City. The iconic brand first debuted in a comic book series by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The shelled superheroes have since spawned a number of animated TV shows, a live-action TV series and four theatrical releases.
Along with more TMNT, Nickelodeon also ordered a fifth season of Henry Danger, a second season of Knight Squad, a third season of The Dude Perfect Show and a third season of Hunter Street.
