Vancouver, Canada-based Big Bad Studios animated preschool series 16 Hudson has been picked up by a raft of broadcasters across Canada including TVOKids, Knowledge Kids, SRC Radio Canada and ICI TV’s Oznoz.
The 2D-animated show will debut across Canada this fall with 39 x seven-minute episodes and three holiday specials. Canadian pubcaster TVOKids, which signed a development deal for the series in 2015, will premiere the series in the greater Ontario region on August 21, followed by educational channel Knowledge Kids on September 3. Later this year SRC Radio Canada will air the series in French and ICI TV in Persian and on the company’s streaming channel Oznoz.
The female-directed show follows Lili, Sam, Amala and Luc as they explore their small neighbourhood. The holiday specials will celebrate Chinese New Year, Diwali, and Persian New Year. It is the first preschool show to feature a main character with two dads (Luc), and main characters that are Iranian (Lili), Chinese (Sam), and a half-Irish, half-Indian character (Amala).
To go along with the series premiere, Big Bad Boo is also releasing three digitial storybooks and three online games on TVOKids.org and on 16hudson.com.
The prodco is also currently producing a 13 x 11-minute comedy/adventure series Bravest Knight with an LGBTQ+ lead on Hulu and developing an animated series called Judge Jodhi with CBC.
