Netflix and TUBAn partner on Larva Island

Produced by South Korea’s TUBAn, the kids comedy series will be the first-ever Korean Netflix original animation.

Netflix and Korean animation studio TUBAn have partnered to create a new season of the hit series Larva.  Larva Island will be exclusively available on Netflix, and it has the distinction of being the market’s first Korean Netflix original animation.

The dialog-free kids comedy series features short vignettes about the adventures of two worms (and a host of new characters) living on an abandoned island.

The Larva property has gained considerable international popularity since its debut in 2011, now airing in more than 150 countries. Last year, TUBAn tapped DHX Media-owned WildBrain to exclusively manage the Larva TUBA channel on YouTube globally. The multiplatform kids network provides content production services, as well as audience development expertise.

A 90-minute feature film entitled Larva The Movie is also currently in production and set to be released worldwide in 2019.
