In an effort to expand its user base beyond Gen Z and Millennials to even younger kids, digital marketplace Quidd has secured a deal with Disney to add limited-edition digital stickers, trading cards and 3D Tsum Tsums to its free app.
The digital goods, which are available to purchase, trade and display via the Quidd app for iOS and Android devices, feature characters from iconic House of Mouse properties including Frozen, Toy Story, Gravity Falls, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse (with art provided by Disney Publishing Worldwide).
Since launching in 2015, more than two billion individually serialized items have sold through on the Quidd app to a 75% Gen Z and Millennial customer base.
In May, the New York-based company inked a similar deal with Hasbro for digital goods inspired by My Little Pony, Transformers, Monopoly, GI Joe and NERF. It also has a partnership with Sanrio, which zeroed in on the GIF craze by launching Hello Kitty-branded GIFs through its StoryGIF app in 2016, after partnering with German character voice-messaging mobile company Zoobe Message Entertainment.
Quidd is backed by Sequoia Capital, which led a US$13-million Series A funding round last November.
