Hasbro is strengthening the top of its brand management team by upping Samantha Lomow (pictured right) to president of Hasbro entertainment brands, and Jonathan Berkowitz (pictured left) to president of Hasbro brands.

An 18-year veteran with the toyco, Lomow previously served as SVP of Hasbro brands. In her new role, she will be responsible for leading Hasbro’s strategic partner portfolio, as well as current and vault entertainment-driven brands such as My Little Pony, Transformers and Power Rangers. Hasbro inked an agreement to acquire a number of IPs from Saban Brands—including the billion-dollar Power Rangers franchise—for approximately US$522 million in cash and stock earlier this year, and Lomow will now be responsible for that portfolio.

For his part, Berkowitz is a 15-year Hasbro veteran who most recently served as SVP of Hasbro gaming. His will now manage the Hasbro gaming portfolio, including juggernaut Monopoly, as well as the company’s NERF, Play-Doh, Baby Alive and furReal franchises. Berkowitz will also be responsible for initiatives driven by Hasbro’s Quick Strike team and for brands not stemming from entertainment.

The promotions follow a difficult second quarter for the toyco, which reported a 7% decline in its Q2 2018 net revenue, to the tune of US$904.5 million. Net earnings were US$60.3 million, down from US$67.7 million in the same period last year. The company’s entertainment and licensing segment, however, saw a 26% net revenue increase to US$64.7 million for the quarter.
