In an effort to help producers meet the demanding technical and post-production delivery expectations that come with having a Netflix Original series or film, the global SVOD platform has created the Post Technology Alliance (PTA) program.

It includes a list of products that can be used to ensure delivered content complies with the streamer’s very specific requirements. Some of these specs include critical viewing environment guidelines, color space and transfer function parameters and minimum requirements for anime productions.

The PTA program has five categories: cameras, editorial, color grading, IMF encoding and visual effects, with products that meet Netflix’s quality expectations from brands such as Adobe, Arri, Avid, Blackmagic Design, Canon, Colorfront, Fraunhofer IIS, Filmlight, Marquise Technologies, MTI Film, Ownzones, Panasonic, Red Digital Cinema, Rohde & Schwarz and Sony listed in each category.

Members of the program will have the right to use the PTA logo on their website and marketing materials as a recognition of excellence in quality, service and support from Netflix. And they will also have access to the streamer’s ever-evolving quality road map, which continues to change as Netflix expands its content offerings.

Guidelines and qualifications for joining the PTA are available at no cost on the company’s website.

Netflix hopes that this program will pave the way for more small studios to successfully create and deliver content for the platform.
