Disney XD Latin America has acquired broadcast rights to the third season of animated co-pro Yo-Kai Watch from Dentsu, Level-5 and TV Tokyo.
Brokered by distributor MarVista Entertainment, the buy comes on the heels on growing momentum in the region for the show’s first two seasons, which premiered on all five of Disney XD Latin America’s feeds starting in 2016. Disney XD brought the series to the US in 2015 and began airing the third season in July.
Yo-Kai Watch tells the story of a young boy who develops special powers that lead him to discover mysterious beings called Yo-Kai. The latest season features new storylines and characters including Hailey Anne, who is also able to connect with the Yo-Kai.
First introduced in Japan in 2014, Yo-Kai Watch is now available in more than a hundred countries across Europe and Africa, and season two is available for streaming on YouTube Kids in the UK through a deal with Paris-based distributor VIZ Media Europe.
Created by Japanese video game company Level-5, the franchise currently includes a Nintendo 3DS video game series, manga and related books, and a Hasbro toy range.
