Nickelodeon has acquired live-action series The Bureau of Magical Things from distributor ZDF Enterprises and is planning an October 8 premiere in the US. Created by Australian producer Jonathan Shiff (H2O: Just Add Water), the 20 x 30-minute series will then roll out internationally on all of Nick’s channels and branded block across more than 170 countries and territories.

Filmed in Brisbane and the Gold Coast of Australia, the series combines magic, mystery and mythology to tell the story of an ordinary teenager who is caught in a battle between an elf and a fairy and becomes magically transformed.

Season one is produced by Jonathan M. Shiff Productions, with financing from Screen Australia and the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland and the City of Gold Coast. It originally aired in Australia on Channel Eleven.

German broadcaster ZDF picked the series up last year, and ZDF Enterprises nabbed the international distribution rights at the same time.
