Sixteen South’s TV adaptation of Alex T. Smith’s bestselling picture book series, Claude, has been snapped up by broadcasters in Europe and Southeast Asia.

In Europe, global distributor Cloudco Entertainment (formerly American Greetings Entertainment) has sold the 2D-animated series to YLE (Finland) and ITV (UK), which will launch Claude in Q3 2019 on littleBe, its preschool block on free-to-air channel ITVBe.

Cloudco has also inked deals for the series with YoYo (Taiwan), TVB (Hong Kong), CJ E&M for its pay-TV preschool channel English GEM (South Korea) and Cineplex Company for True Visions (Thailand). UYoung has licensed Claude for distribution in China, and Bomanbridge is currently handling sub-distribution in Southeast Asia.

Disney Junior originally picked the series up for EMEA and Australia in 2016. Consisting of 50 x 12-minute episodes and 11 x two-minute shorts, Claude tells the humorous tales of a beret-wearing canine and his trusty sidekick Sir Bobblysock.

Cloudco, which rebranded from American Greetings Entertainment last month, opened a new office in London last week and hired four new senior executives. The company is the creator and producer behind Care Bears, Tinpo, Holly Hobbie and Buddy Thunderstruck, while Sixteen South has created hit shows including WildWoods and Lily’s Driftwood Bay.
