The UK’s SuperAwesome has launched a dedicated kid-safe OTT platform that’s available in the US on desktop, mobile tablet and smart TVs, and features partners FutureToday, XUMO, KetchupTV, ToonGoggles, Ameba and KidsClick.
Content offered by the service—including nursery rhymes, kids favorites, classics and popular gaming and unboxing channels—will only feature COPPA-compliant advertising.
SuperAwesome is using this as a way to capitalize on the increasing popularity of on-demand options, while still providing brands accustomed to linear TV with a seamless transfer of content.
The new platform falls in line with SuperAwesome’s other recent pushes into alternative viewing platforms, including the launch of YouTube alternative PopJam earlier this year. This zero-data, embeddable and customizable video player is aimed specifically at kids and family publishers.
The PopJam app lets companies publish content themselves, whereas the new OTT marketplace aggregates a wide number of age-appropriate OTT apps into one kid-safe place.
