Indian YouTube creator ChuChu TV has inked a global toy partnership with Australia’s Moose Toys for a range of playthings based on popular characters from its 10 YouTube channels.
Brokered by ChuChu’s global master licensing agent, Dream Theatre, the deal will see Moose Toys roll out a line of figures, dolls and plush next fall, initially in the US, UK, India, Australia and New Zealand. Apparel, publishing and back-to-school ranges are also planned for 2019, and the program will be unveiled at Toy Fair in February.
ChuChu TV creates songs, stories, nursery rhymes and preschool learning modules with characters ChuChu, ChaCha, Chika, Chiku and Mr. Harlo. In total, its YouTube channels have amassed more than 20 billion views and 30 million subscribers.
It’s been a big year for kid-focused YouTube brands branching out into licensing. South Korean entertainment company Pinkfong’s viral video “Baby Shark” has led to consumer products, a TV series, a feature film and apps. And Joshua Slice’s YouTube hit Lucas the Spider now has an apparel and plush line and a TV series with FreshTV in the works.
