The fast-paced demand of today’s global kids entertainment market often leaves little time in the schedule for discussions of happiness, but this year’s Kidscreen Summit has a special remedy in the lineup. Taking place in Miami, Florida from February 11 to 14, TED Talk speaker Neil Pasricha (pictured) will mark the start of the summit with a keynote about the role of happiness in successful careers.

Pasricha’s keynote “The Tao of Happiness” will highlight the theories and strategies leaders can use to improve their personal performance and create positive and productive teams—something that’s key to the kids media industry as companies continue to expand internationally to increase brand awareness and connect with a larger audience.

This year’s summit will also feature a keynote from Brittni Bowering, AJ&Smart’s head of media who has been using Jake Knapp’s Google Ventures Design Sprint to streamline development for companies like The LEGO Company, Twitter, Lufthansa, HSBC and Adidas. The one-week formulaic model makes development more efficient in areas such as new product ideas, organizational change and marketing campaigns. In particular, Bowering will discuss the potential value of the Design Sprint for kids content development so companies can reach the finish line faster.

Author and comic artist Scott McCloud’s keynote session entitled “The Value of Visual: A picture is worth more than 1,000 words now,” will address the importance of visual storytelling in the fast-paced environment of kids entertainment. McCloud will present a new approach to telling stories in today’s overloaded information landscape, with a focus on why every visual decision is significant and why a visual communication revolution may be on the rise.

Last year’s summit attracted more than 2,000 attendees from around the world, including 900 kids content producers and distributors and more than 400 kids programming buyers. More details for this year’s event can be found here.
