Chinese toyco Zuru has acquired the doll brand Sparkle Girlz, which combines fashion dolls with fantasy elements in a line that includes fairy and princess dolls, baby dolls, playsets and collectibles.
The range was originally developed by Funville owner Danuta Saville and is now distributed in more than 70 countries around the world. Zuru plans to expand the doll assortment with more SKUs, as well as mining the brand’s sub-categories.
Last year, Zuru launched the Smashers collectibles range, which features 100-plus characters housed inside red “smashballs.” Smashers are revealed once their outer ball is cracked open, and kids can track their characters through an accompanying collector’s guide and game sheet, or through an app.
