Atomic Cartoons has signed a deal with Paris-based Cyber Group Studios to manage worldwide merchandise, ancillary and second-window TV rights to its upcoming animated series The Last Kids on Earth.

Based on a book series created by Max Brailler and illustrated by Doug Holgate, the show will center around a gang of middle-school friends battle zombies in the aftermath of a monster apocalypse. The books were optioned by Thunderbird Entertainment Group’s animation studio in 2017, and Netflix acquired worldwide rights to the TV series last year, with plans to launch it later in 2019.

Brailler serves as an executive producer alongside Atomic’s Scott Peterson (who is also showrunner), Matt Berkowitz and Atomic head and Thunderbird Entertainment CEO Jennifer Twiner McCarron.

Earlier this week, Atomic announced a new partnership with Japan’s tokidoki to develop an original animated series based on the toy brand Mermicorno.
