Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana is partnering with Japanese investment company Sumitomo Corporation to produce animated action-adventure series Geki Drive. Based on a line of Bandai Spirits customizable toy cars, the 52 x 11-minute 2D/3D series is about a team of young racers looking to make their mark on the competition circuit.

The team behind the series includes producer Shigeki Fujiwara (Beyblade, B-daman), writer Al Schwartz (The Hollow, PAW Patrol) and director Mike McDougal (Mysticons, D.N.Ace), and former Cartoon Network president and COO Stuart Snyder is involved as an advisor.

The production is part of a multi-year partnership between Nelvana and Sumitomo (supported by Fujiwara’s Tokyo-based content creation firm Zeroichi) to produce original anime and toy concepts for a global market.
