Turner Asia Pacific and Toyko-based TV network Asahi are partnering on new animated kids series Super Shiro. The agreement is the first between both companies and includes Turner acquiring broadcast rights for the IP across Asia Pacific (excluding China).

The series, produced by Shin-ei Animation and Tokyo animation studio Science SARU, is based on the fast-paced adventure-anime franchise Crayon Shin chan, which has aired internationally since 1992. Turner invested in the series and will serve as its distributor. The 48 x 5.5-minute show is expected to launch in early 2020 across Turner’s kids channels Cartoon Network, Boomerang and POGO.

Recently, Turner’s Asia Pacific portfolio expanded with the partnership with Chinese animation prodco UYoung. UYong will develop new IP that Turner will distribute.
