Miniteve is sending its suite of short documentaries to Alibaba’s SVOD service Youku in a new licensing deal. The prodco’s 300 mini-docs of animals, vehicles and playtime are aimed at a preschool audience, and are appropriate for co-viewing.

Some of the most popular titles include A Little Kitty Exploring, Large Wheel Loader Loading Rocks, and Ballpool. The docs, ranging in length from 30 seconds to seven minutes, will be featured in Youku’s newly launched Explore Section, which focuses on educational content for children.

The doc producer launched in 2011 and entered China last year when it partnered with Chinese conglom iQIYI and went on to premiere in China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, where it has racked up more than 200 million views. But, it has also recently grown the reach of its mini-docs globally, via a partnership with Vodafone TV in April that sent the content to Italy.

Since 2015, the documentaries have been available on the C More TV network in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, and in 2017 Miniteve made an exclusive deal with European media conglom SKY for distribution in the UK and Ireland.
