Italy’s Showlab has hired Micheline Azoury to help launch a new distribution and acquisition division for kids content at the company. Based in Rome, the former head of TV sales and acquisition for Mondo TV will serve as Showlab’s director of sales and acquisitions.

Azoury will work alongside Alfio Bastiancich, the general manager for animation and youth programs, and Guido Bertè, the general manager of consumer products and kids content. In her new role, Azoury will drive the company’s acquisition and international sales strategy, as well as the development of new IP and activities.

Prior to this position, Azoury spent twelve years at Mondo TV, first as a sales manager before working her way up. Just before her departure, she secured a deal with SVOD provider Ameba TV for Playtime Buddies, Robin Hood, Cinderella and Turtle Hero to roll out on the platform’s branded channels in North America.

Showlab meanwhile, has been focused on its preschool series YoYo (52 x seven minutes), which Spanish distributor Imira Entertainment recently sold to US Hispanic broadcaster Condista.
