Netflix and PBS were the biggest winners at the 46th Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards this weekend in the children’s categories. Driven by three wins for Sinking Ship Entertainment’s live-action series Odd Squad (pictured), PBS racked up five awards, while Netflix brought home the most statues with 10.

Outside of the kids TV categories, the annual ceremony held on Friday night in LA, also included awards for drama, non-fiction and news programming.

Odd Squad (co-produced with Fred Rogers Productions) won Emmys for outstanding children’s or family viewing series and outstanding directing and writing for a children’s, preschool children’s or family viewing program.

Its three trophies tied HBO’s iconic series Sesame Street, but both series were surpassed by Baobab Studios’ VR and traditional 2D-animated short Crow: The Legend, which scored four awards, including outstanding interactive media for a daytime program. Baobab has dominated the category for three years in a row with VR shorts Asteroids! and Invasion winning in 2018 and 2017, respectively.

With the most nominations (47) going in, Netflix won a pair of Emmys for Ask the Storybots (outstanding directing in a preschool animated program and outstanding writing in a preschool animated program), while Hilda grabbed the award for outstanding main title and graphic design for an animated program. Interestingly, Netflix’s BBC co-pro Watership Down, the show with the most nominations (six), only nabbed one win— outstanding special class animated program.

As for traditional linear nets, Nickelodeon’s four wins bested Disney, which got three. Nick’s The Loud House won outstanding children’s animated series and outstanding writing in an animated program, while Disney Junior’s Elena of Avalor won outstanding casting for an animated series or special for the second year in a row.
