Paris-based APC Kids has signed on as the worldwide distributor for 2D-animated series Galactic Agency, excluding France, Belgium, Luxembourg and India. The 52 x 13-minute series is produced by France’s Studio 100 Animation and India’s Cosmos-Maya, and has already been commissioned by French broadcaster Gulli.
Targeting kids ages six to nine, Galactic Agency stars a team of repair specialists as they travel across the galaxy to fix everything from a washing machine to a robot teddy. APC Kids will show the series to potential buyers at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival next month.
The show is part of Cosmos-Maya’s ongoing transition from a service studio to an IP-making powerhouse. Singapore-based equity investor Emerald Media took a controlling stake in the 2D and 3D production company in January 2018, and Cosmos-Maya is focused on taking its series—including Atchoo! and Captain Cactus—into the international marketplace.
Meanwhile, APC Studios announced a new focus on production earlier this year. Acting as an umbrella for APC, APC Kids and the recently launched production company Zephyr Animation, the company is developing a number of scripted and factual productions including co-developments with international partners.
