Netflix has tapped a bevy of kids creators to helm its new series The Healing Powers of Dude. Leading the show will be writing and producing talent from Disney series Coop and Cami Ask the World and Victorious, along with a Blue Ant Media exec.

Erica Spates and Sam Littenberg-Weisberg (Coop and Cami Ask the World, Victorious, Mystery Girls) are the show’s co-creators. They will also EP alongside Blue Ant SVP of US production and development Dan Lubetkin (Adam DeVine’s House Party, Workaholics) and director Richie Keen (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Fist Fight, Teachers). Chris Phillips (Prince Of Peoria) is producing.

The eight-episode, single-cam family comedy deals with the relationship between an 11-year old student with social anxiety disorder (newcomer Jace Chapman, pictured) and his sarcastic emotional support dog Dude (also pictured).

With The Healing Powers of Dude, Netflix continues to grow its live-action comedy series slate. Shows such as Malibu Rescue, No Good Nick and Alexa & Katie are currently streaming, while upcoming programs include Family Reunion from Meg DeLoatch (Fuller House), Mario Lopez vehicle The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia and reboot The Baby-Sitters Club from Walden Media.

Netflix is also no stranger to talking-dog content. In November, it delivered the fourth feature installment in its popular Pup Star franchise produced by Air Bud Entertainment.
