Celebrating the year’s best work in children’s television and digital entertainment, the 11th-annual Kidscreen Awards is officially open for entries.

To keep pace with the ever-changing kids content market, the awards will feature new categories, including best SVOD platform, kids-only streaming service, YouTube channel and short film.

Winners will be revealed at an evening event on Tuesday, February 11 during next year’s Kidscreen Summit, which will take place at the Miami InterContinental hotel from February 10 to 13.  

Beginning today, PROGRAMMING entries are being accepted in the following categories for projects aimed at preschoolers (zero to five), kids (six to 10) and tweens and teens (11 to 17):

Best New Series
Best Animated Series
Best Mixed Media Series
Best Live-Action Series
Best One-off, Special or TV Movie
Best Short Film

The BROADCASTING categories are:

Channel of the Year
Best On-Air Host or Hosting Team
Best Programming Block
Best SVOD Platform
Best Kids-Only Streaming Service

The awards will once again celebrate the industry’s best DIGITAL media products and platforms for preschoolers (zero to five) and kids (six and up) in these categories:

Best Game App—Original
Best Game App—Branded
Best Learning App—Original
Best Learning App—Branded
Best Game (other)—open to voice-enabled, social media and web IPs
Best YouTube Channel
Best Web/App Series—Original
Best Web/App Series—Branded
Best Website

Finally, a “Best in Class” category will be featured again this year where a jury of industry experts will single out projects from the Programming category that merit special creative talent awards for animation, voice talent (animation only), directing, writing, music, design and acting (live action only).

The deadline for all entries is Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11:59 pm EST. Early Bird entry fees are US$300 until August 9, and US$400 after.

Comedian Craig Lauzon hosted last year’s awards ceremony. Sinking Ship Entertainment, Nickelodeon and Netflix were among the big winners, with Sinking Ship taking home seven trophies, including Preschool Best in Class, Best Non-Animated or Mixed Preschool Series and Best Acting for Dino Dana. The PBS KIDS team (pictured), meanwhile, snapped up the coveted Channel of the Year award in the Broadcasting category.
