London-based distributor Hoho Rights, the commercial arm of prodco Hoho Entertainment, has sent the stop-motion preschool series Hana’s Helpline to Chinese VOD platforms Tencent and MangoTV.

Tencent Video has signed a five-year deal for non-exclusive VOD and exclusive TVOD rights for the show in Mandarin. MangoTV, meanwhile, closed a five-year deal for non-exclusive SVOD rights. London-based distributor The Media Pioneers, which specializes in distribution to China, brokered the deal. Aimed at kids four to six, the series launched on both platforms last week, according a spokesperson for Hoho rights.

Produced by Welsh prodco Calon TV, the single season, 52 x 10-minute, stop-motion animated series follows a duck who runs a hotline to help other animals get through their problems. It launched in 2007 and aired on Welsh pubcaster S4C and British free-to-air network Channel 5.

Hoho has been focused on growing its distribution globally and in China since 2017, when the company first got a foot in country’s door via a licensing and co-production deal with China’s Wow Dadi to launch Hoho’s animated preschool series Cloudbabies in mainland China.
