Big Bird, Elmo and Grover, oh my! Australian event company Showtime Attractions and Silvers Circus are partnering to launch Sesame Street Circus Spectacular by Silvers. The live event launches in Melbourne on September 11 and will visit seven cities across Australia and New Zealand.

The 90-minute show features Sesame Street characters, including Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Bert, Ernie, Super Grover and Big Bird alongside circus performers from around the world. There will be additional activities like learning how to draw Sesame Street characters, a ball pit and a meet-and-greet with Big Bird. The show’s music will feature beloved Sesame Street voices, recorded specifically for the production.

This isn’t the first time Sesame has taken center stage. Sesame Workshop previously partnered with Feld Entertainment to launch Sesame Street Live! Make Your Magic, an interactive production that combines stage magic and high-energy dance numbers. The circus-themed event from Showtime Attractions and Silvers Circus comes as Sesame continues to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

And the big top just keeps getting bigger. Last year, Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group acquired Minnesota-based entertainment production company VStar Entertainment Group in an effort to expand its kid-specific offerings. VStar has since signed an exclusive five-year live theatrical partnership with Nickelodeon that will see the companies partner on multiple touring productions, including the musical stage show Nick Jr. Live! Move to the Music. Additionally, Cirque du Soleil is set to launch its first indoor family entertainment center in Toronto this year.
