Brazilian kidsnet Gloob is partnering with LA toon house ZAG and Paris-based Method Animation to co-produce the upcoming fourth and fifth seasons of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.
As a result of the net’s creative involvement in the show, a new Brazilian character will fight alongside teen superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir in season five. Season four is expected to launch in Brazil next year.
After purchasing the exclusive Brazilian television rights to the brand in 2014, the broadcaster acquired its licensing rights the following year. According to Gloob, more than 58 million Miraculous products have been sold in Brazil to date.
The kidsnet is also co-producing ZAG and Method’s new animated series Power Players and has snapped up the licensing rights for the IP’s products in Brazil. The series will premiere on Gloob in 2020.
Globally, Miraculous is available in more than 120 countries, including in the US on Netflix and Disney Channel. Disney Channels EMEA commissioned a fourth season in June.
