Canadian toy and entertainment company Spin Master inked a number of broadcast and streaming agreements for Hatchimals: Adventures in Hatchtopia.

The 44 x three-minute shorts will be available through Netflix (globally), Carousel (Russia), Nelonen (Finland), Ruutu (Finland), RTL (Netherlands), MYTF1 (France), TFOUMAX (France), Super RTL (Germany), Discovery Corporate Services (Italy), Viacom (Poland), Medialaan by DPG Media (Belgium) and e-junior (Middle East). The content launched on Netflix in July, but it is unclear when the shorts will be available throughout EMEA.

Hatchimals: Adventures in Hatchtopia stars the characters from the unboxing toy brand, which features colorful creatures hidden inside eggs that kids have to crack open. These new agreements, and a focus on content, comes as sales for the Hatchimals range have been on the decline. Spin Master’s remote control and interactive characters segment saw sales drop 14.8% to US$505.4 million in fiscal 2018 due to declines in Hatchimals large eggs. The brand also drove declines in the remote control and interactive characters segment in Q1 2019 (down 65.9% to US$31.1 million) and in Q2 2019 (down 34.9% to US$23.8 million).

Spin Master continues to invest in the unboxing trend, however, with the recent launch of its collectibles line Dragamonz. The new range lets consumers smash open eggs to reveal one of 72 different half-animal, half-dragon figures and, in an effort to expand beyond consumer products, the property features a mobile app and upcoming animated series.
