London-based distributor CAKE has secured new broadcast deals for Toronto prodco Fresh TV’s 2D-animated series Total Dramarama, expanding the spin-off to new international territories.
Cartoon Network, which already airs 52 x 11-minute show in the US, has picked up the series for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Easter Europe, LatAm and APAC. Several other new broadcasters also signed on for the first time, including POP (UK), Teletoon (France), K2 (Italy), DeAKids (Italy), Super3 (Spain), ABC (Australia) and Noga (Israel). No launch date on these networks has been announced yet.
Produced in association with Canadian kidsnet Teletoon and Cartoon Network US, Fresh TV is working on a second season, bringing the show to 104 x 11-minute episodes. Both Teletoon and Cartoon Network US premiered the first season in 2018 and will broadcast the new episodes later this year. CAKE also sold the series to French broadcaster Canal+ last year. Geared toward six- to 11-year-olds, the comedy series reintroduces the teenage characters from the Total Drama franchise as toddlers in a daycare center with their teen personalities still intact.
The Total Drama franchise was created by Tom McGillis and Jennifer Pertsch and first hit screens in 2007, with the tween-skewing animated adventure Total Drama Island.
