Tubi is ready to get family-friendly. The ad-supported video-on-demand service is launching its new kid-focused in-platform destination Tubi Kids on October 21 with more than 5,000 hours of content. Additionally, Tubi will launch in the UK next year with additional territories to follow as the California-based AVOD expands internationally.

Tubi Kids will first roll out in the US through Roku devices, before becoming available on all major streaming devices. The more than 1,200 family-focused movies and television shows available through Tubi Kids will include How to Train Your Dragon (pictured), Norm of the North and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

Founded in 2014 and available in the US and Canada, Tubi can be accessed on devices such as Roku, Amazon FireTV, Comcast Xfinity, Cox Contour, iOS and Android.

The service’s global expansion and new focus on kids content come as more companies enter the streaming fray. WarnerMedia recently announced its direct-to-consumer offering HBO Max, which will launch in spring 2020 with 10,000 hours of content. NBC Universal’s upcoming SVOD Peacock, meanwhile, will feature kids and family content from Comcast-owned DreamWorks Animation. Apple TV+ is set to launch on November 1 with content from classic brands like Snoopy and Sesame Street, while Disney+ will bow on November 12 and is expected to spend more than US$1 billion on original content.
