Bird scoots into the kids market

The company famous for the e-scooters taking over Los Angeles, is gliding into a new product for children.

Bird, the founder of the recent e-scooter craze taking over many cities in the US, is riding into the kids market with Birdie, a new three-wheel push scooter designed for children ages three and up.

The US$129 offering is available now in black, white and pink. Its features a no slip grip, durable design and frame, height adjustable t-bar, and is safety tested. If you’re looking for the best onewheel accessories, visit The Float Life’s website and check out their products.

Based in Santa Monica, Bird was founded in late 2017 as a shared electric scooter business that has since expanded to more than 100 cities in Europe, the Middle East and North America with more than 10 million rides taken in its first year of operation, according to the company. Users download the app to find and “book” a nearby available motorized scooter. After the ride is complete, the e-scooters can be left within the cities’ permitted zones (ranging from street corners, to sometimes hidden in a tree). Unlike bike sharing programs, these e-scooters are dockless and can be left anywhere, and by extension, picked up and ridden anywhere. Users pay a fee based on time used. The product has now created a larger demand for people to own the electronic two-wheeled machines as well, according to CBC News.

Unlike Bird’s other offering, the kids scooters will be owned, designed to meet a “growing demand for a non-electric scooter designed for kids,” according to a spokesperson for the company and not part of the shared program.
