Acamar Films

Animated rabbit Bing is heading to theaters with a new feature-length film Bing’s Christmas. UK prodco Acamar Films has partnered with British cinema company Vue and Massachusetts-based Showcase Cinemas to screen the movie in 105 cinemas across the UK starting November 29. The film premiered this past Monday in the UK. The cinema companies have presold 14,000 tickets ahead of its release, according to Acamar.

Bing is a CGI-animated series about a bunny and his experiences with the world around him. Acamar has been busy growing the presence of the show in the last few months and launched a new Bing-themed app featuring episodes and educational content. This past September, BBC commissioned a second season of 26 x seven-minute episodes for the show.

WildBrain CPLG

London-based licensing agency WildBrain CPLG is getting into the holiday spirit with new licensees for How the Grinch Stole Christmas-themed products (pictured) in the UK. The agency has secured CWI (babywear), Kokomo (health and beauty), Widdop & Co (Christmas decorations), That Company Called If (reading accessories), Portico (calendars), Ecell (phone accessories), retailers Asda, New Look and Very (apparel) and Enesco (gifting).

Bejuba!

Canadian distributor Bejuba! Entertainment has picked up the distribution rights for London-based animation studio 3D Sparrow’s non-dialogue series Booba. The comedy show is about a curious and clumsy creature named Booba and the shenanigans he gets up to. 3D Sparrow is producing a third season of the series, which will have 26 x five-minute episodes, and is expected to be fully delivered November 2020. Booba has already been picked up by Netflix and linear broadcasters DeAKids (Italy), MBC3 (MENA) and Carousel and Moolt (Russia).

Coolabi Group

British prodco Coolabi Group has secured a deal with organic consumer products company ChunkiChilli to create a range of hand-knit toys for Coolabi’s preschool series Clangers. The toymaker has created five dolls modeled after the characters in the stop-motion show, and which are available online at Coolabi’s Clangers shop.

The soft toymaker’s products have been featured in TV shows and advertisements before but this partnership marks the first time it has made CP based on a TV show brand before, according to the company.

The knitted products are an alternative to more plastic-heavy toys and this partnership comes as consumer demand for eco-friendly products is on the rise and toycos strive to become more environmentally sustainable, according to a recent Viacom survey. The survey found that of 5,724 kids ages six to 11 in 30 countries, 74% of children say they care “a lot” about the environment.
