‘Tis the season for snow globes and giving back. Nick Jr. is partnering with Barnardo’s to launch an on-air competition in support of the British charity’s “Kidsmas” campaign.
Beginning December 2 and running until December 24, the competition will see Nick Jr. characters appear in a snow globe on screen during episodes several times a day between 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Kids across the UK and Ireland can then enter the name of that character through the Nick Jr. website to be eligible to win a prize bundle.
The competition will give away a prize bundle to a viewer each day, and for every prize won Nick Jr. will make a US$250 (£200) donation to the “Kidsmas” campaign in support of vulnerable children across the UK during the holiday season. The prize bundles will include products from popular shows like PAW Patrol and Shimmer and Shine (pictured).
This on-air competition comes as Nickelodeon continues to expand its efforts around interactivity and on-air live viewing. At the end of 2018, Nick rang in the New Year with the New Year’s Eve Loud House Party interactive marathon. Using the Screens Up app, the event allowed live viewers to unlock and collect augmented reality versions of Loud House characters to interact with. Additionally, Michael Levine was recently hired as SVP, learning and impact for Noggin to grow the preschool-skewing VOD’s content and interactive features. Play-along videos for the new Blue’s Clues & You! series, for example, were added to Noggin on November 11.
