Chinese location-based entertainment company Harves is bringing Care Bears to China for the first time as part of an exclusive, long-term partnership with IP-owner Cloudco. Under the deal, Harves will serve as the master licensee of the bear’s consumer product, brand licensing and retail distribution in the country across all categories. Harves will develop new products, as well as create and operate Care Bears-themed family entertainment experiences in China.

Cloudco (formerly American Greetings Entertainment) launched Care Bears in 1982, and has since spawned TV series, movies, apps, a restaurant presence, consumer products and earned more than US$5 billion in worldwide retail sales, according to Cloudco.

The prodco rebooted the brand in 2018 with the new series Care Bears: Unlock the Magic (pictured), which was picked up by SVOD Boomerang to air globally. The 2D-animated show consists of 48 x 11 minute episodes, plus two x 22-minute specials and 20 x 20-second shorts. Also on the TV side, the brand expanded its global reach with Netflix-commissioned CG-animated series Care Bears and Cousins, which premiered worldwide on the streamer in 2015.
