WarnerMedia’s two kids channels in India, POGO and Cartoon Network, are ramping up on original India productions by greenlighting Cosmos-Maya’s Titoo and Lambuji Tinguji and acquiring Paperboat Studios’ Banbudh Aur Budbak.
Titoo (pictured) is a comedy series following the daily escapades of the titular eight-year-old who always manages to get in some kind of trouble. Lambuji Tinguji, meanwhile, is a slapstick buddy comedy exploring a friendship in Buddy Badi Valley as a pair of friends fight crime or eat at fancy restaurants, finding adventure in everything they do.
Both are produced by India-based producer Cosmos-Maya, and the pair of 52 x half-hour shows are looking for brand association and licensing partnerships. POGO has promotional launch activities across India planned already, including mall events, digital promotions and on-air activations, which will start in the months leading up to the (yet-to-be-announced) launch date.
Cosmos-Maya has been busy building its business over the last year, including launching a feature film division and opening a new sales arm, Wowkidz Distribution, overseen by SVP Devdatta Potnis.
Rounding out WarnerMedia’s acquisitions, Cartoon Network picked up Bandbudh Aur Badbak from Mumbai-based Paperboat Studios. The 78 x half-hour series follows the capers of two 10-year-old boys, Budhdeb and Badrinath who are somehow at the center of every ruckus.
This new programming follows not that long after WarnerMedia APAC named Abhishek Dutta its new senior director and network head of Cartoon Network and POGO in South Asia.
