Apple TV+ and The Jim Henson Company are bringing back the ’80s series Fraggle Rock, with a social isolation twist dubbed Fraggle Rock: Rock On! (pictured).

The first three- to five-minute mini episode premiered yesterday, and will be followed by additional episodes every Tuesday on the SVOD globally. Produced by the Jim Henson Company, due to the COVID-19 lockdowns, the show was shot entirely on iPhone 11s from the homes of the production team and individual artists in the US.

The characters from the original series, Gobo, Red, Boober, Mokey, Wembley and Uncle Traveling Matt, are back with new stories and songs about friendship. In the updated story, the characters are isolating in different parts of the Fraggle Rock caves but are still finding ways to have fun (via video calls of course).

Fraggle Rock: Rock On! is executive produced by Henson’s Halle Stanford and John Tartaglia.

Apple TV+ has stayed pretty tight lipped on its kids content plans but recently rolled out Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth from the UK’s Studio AKA. The 36-minute animated special is based on New York Times bestseller Oliver Jeffers’ book. It has also picked up two series from Sesame Workshop, Ghostwriter and Helpsters, as well as WildBrain’s Snoopy in Space.
