Registration is open for the ninth-annual Asian Animation Summit, which is moving forward as a live event scheduled for November 18 to 20 in Bali, Indonesia.

Many industry events around the world, especially ones in the spring and summer, have been postponed or moved online, including MIPTV and Annecy International Animation Film Festival/MIFA. However, Kidscreen is hopeful that its annual pitching event showcasing producers in Asia-Pacific will take place this year in person.

During the three-day event, up to 30 new projects will be pitched from Indonesia, Korea, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and elsewhere in APAC. The projects are all looking for financing and partners. This is the first time Japan is participating as a partner region.

Registration for AAS 2020 is now open, with more information available here. A US$200 early-bird discount is in effect until August 28. And in light of the continued uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, Kidscreen has adjusted its cancellation policy for AAS. If it’s not possible to produce a live event because of the pandemic, all event registration fees will be fully refunded.

AAS 2020 is owned and produced by Kidscreen, with support from hosting partner BAPAREKRAF (Indonesia); and presenting and supporting partners KOCCA (Korea), MDEC (Malaysia), Create NSW and Screen Queensland (Australia), DITP (Thailand) and VIPO (Japan).
