Disney+ has ordered a new eight-episode series Just Beyond from writer Seth Grahame-Smith and produced by 20th Century Fox Television. Based on the bestselling BOOM! Studios graphic novel series by Goosebumps author R.L. Stine, the family-targeted series will take the form of a horror/comedy anthology. Stine is attached as a co-executive producer.

Grahame-Smith, who is known for bestselling novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, as well as the screenwriter on The Lego Batman Movie and Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows remake, adapted the story. He will also serve as writer and executive producer, alongside David Katzenberg, Stephen Christy and Ross Ritchie.

A writers’ room is being assembled now, and the series is expected to land on Disney+ in fall 2021. Grahame-Smith and Katzenberg are producing it through their KatzSmith Productions banner, which is represented by WME and Ziffren Brittenham. BOOM! Studios, meanwhile, is represented by UTA and Matt Saver.

Just Beyond is produced by 20th Century Fox Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.

R.L. Stine is a hot commodity in the kids space right now as Scholastic Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television are partnering with Original Films to develop a live-action series inspired by Goosebumps.
