Nickelodeon is turning up the heat with new baking special Cake My Day. Premiering July 17, the special is executive produced by Rachael Ray and hosted by Amirah Kassem, founder of New York’s Flour Shop. Kassem is also the creator of the rainbow explosion cake—an Instagram-friendly cake that features a core of sprinkles that come tumbling out when a slice is cut.
Cake My Day focuses on Charlotte, a triplet looking to finally have a birthday that’s all her own. Kassem (pictured) teaches the young girl how to bake one of her signature sprinkle-filled cakes, but what Charlotte doesn’t know is that her brothers Oliver and Sam have secretly planned the biggest birthday celebration she’s ever had.
The unscripted special features an appearance by DIY YouTuber Karina Garcia and a performance by dance stars The Lab.
Cake My Day is produced by LA-based Propagate (with Ben Silverman, Howard Owens and Kevin Healey executive producing) and New York’s Watch Entertainment (with Ray and Jonny Umansky serving as EPs). Kassem also has an executive producing role, along with Nickelodeon’s Rob Bagshaw, Mandel Ilagan and Stacey Carr.
This announcement comes shortly after Nickelodeon made headlines with Kids, Race and Unity: A Nick News Special. The hour-long presentation bowed on June 29 and is the first in a series of Nick News specials set to air on Nickelodeon in the coming months.
