Skydance adds SVP of TV & film development

Former Disney TVA exec Shane Prigmore joins the prodco in this newly created role to lead all animation development.

Skydance Animation has appointed former Walt Disney TV Animation VP of creative affairs Shane Prigmore as its first SVP of development for animation. The newly created role will see Prigmore lead creative development on all films and television series for the Santa Monica-based studio’s production slate.

Prior to Disney TVA, Prigmore worked at Warner Bros., DreamWorks Animation, Cartoon Network and Universal Studios.

Skydance is led by Holly Edwards and ex-Pixar exec John Lasseter. Lasseter left Disney in 2018 following numerous allegations of misconduct towards female employees. He joined Skydance in early 2019, a hire that was denounced by anti-sexual harassment groups like Time’s Up.

Prigmore’s appointment comes as Skydance continues to expand its production efforts. Earlier this year, the company acquired the animation unit of Madrid’s Ilion Studios to form Skydance Animation Madrid. The acquisition gave Skydance access to Ilion’s talent, as well as oversight on production and quality control.

Skydance Animation’s upcoming film slate includes Spellbound (working title), a movie about a kingdom split in two that is being directed by Vicky Jenson (Shrek); and Pookoo (working title), written and directed by Nathan Greno (Tangled).
