Unscripted content with a social media twist was the flavor of the month at Nick, which renewed both Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered and Group Chat for second seasons. Remotely produced talk show Group Chat is getting seven more episodes as hosts Brent Rivera and Jayden Bartels continue to tackle the latest social media hot topics that have got kids talking. Meanwhile, Nick ordered nine more episodes of game show Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered, which pits a celebrity panel of judges against each other with the goal of solving puzzles to find out the identity of an unknown guest. Both shows have done well among six to 11s, topping the unscripted category on the channel, according to Nickelodeon.

Meanwhile, Disney needs a hero, and it’s turning to six of them with a season three order of Emmy-nominated animated series Big Hero 6 The Series. Launching on DisneyXD and DisneyNOW on September 21, the 52 x 11-minute season revolves around a team of young crime-fighters that protects the city of San Fransokyo. Based on the Oscar-winning film Big Hero 6, the series is produced by Disney Television Animation, with Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley and Nick Filippi as exec producers.

Netflix is banking on an old monkey learning new tricks with its renewal of See-Saw Films’ The New Legends of Monkey (pictured) for a 10-episode second season. Released worldwide earlier this month, the live-action fantasy series revolves around a young god and a band of misfits who search for sacred scrolls that will help them overcome demons ruling the kingdom. The series is part of Netflix’s growing YA-skewing fantasy slate, which includes The Letter for the King and The Dragon Princewhich was renewed last month.

Screen Australia has rolled out funding for a second season of Komixx Entertainment’s live-action series Itch. Tracking a science-obsessed teen on a quest to collect all the elements on the Periodic Table, season one (10 x 30 minutes) airs on pubcaster ABC Me and iView, as well as US broadcaster BYU. ABC Commercial has lined up other broadcast deals for the series, including one with the UK’s CBBC.
